A useful addition to match statistics such as "No. of minutes ball in play" would be a record of the number of times during any international match the English commentary team utter their mantra: "NINETEEN SIXTY SIX".

Prediction for Top Five Precursors to the most used phrase in English sports commentary:

1. "The Germans press forward urgently, which reminds me of the time in..."
2. "And over to Bobby Charlton, one of the heroes of...
3. (cut to Dutch kids having a kickabout in the street..) "The ball goes out for a throw-in on the left, just like in..."
4. "Cynical Argentinian play there, the nation who produced THE HAND OF GOD incident to cheat England out of what would most certainly have been their first World Cup win since..." - "Uhh, John, that's Slovenia" - "Yes, slovenly behaviour"
5. "The European Championships, which England have never won: is Euro 2000 to be the tournament where they emulate the feats of..."

They don't need to go to the trouble of commentating on matches to bring it up. There must have been 3 or 4 references on the tv news in the last few days alone.

Still, it'll almost be worth it to see them fail miserably again and listen to the pathetic excuses Motters and co. come out with this time

I'm f*ckin sick of it before the tournament even starts!

I think the nut jobs have already prevented England from hosting the next World Cup after Korea and Japan and it makes me soooooo happy
