What happened to RFC?

I'm watching now the SPL since 1981 , but I have never seen the Rangers as bad as now .Can anybody explain that to me ????

No U-turn on McLeish says Murray

McLeish rejects crisis talk
Rangers chairman David Murray has told BBC Scotland that he will stick to his word and continue to back manager Alex McLeish, for the time being.
Sunday's 2-1 defeat at Hibs means the Ibrox side have gone eight successive games without a win.

Murray told BBC Sport recently that he would review McLeish's position after the final Champions League group match at home to Inter Milan on 6 December.

And Murray added: "I'll stand by what I said about giving Alex a chance."

The poor run of results is the worst in Rangers' 132-year history and leaves them trailing SPL leaders Celtic by 15 points.

And the defending champions are now 11 points adrift of third-placed Hibs.

However, Rangers can become the first Scottish club to reach the knockout phase of the Champions League.

The Ibrox club sit second in Group H, one point ahead of Artmedia Bratislava and two in front of Porto.

John Macmillan, secretary of the Rangers Supporters' Clubs, also thinks McLeish should be given until the Inter Milan game.

He said: "If you are told that results are disappointing and given a period of time to improve those results then that should be allowed to run its course.

"After the Inter game, the chairman has to come out and make a decision: back McLeish or tell us we will be getting a new manager.

"It would be a very interesting scenario if we won against Inter Milan.

"It would be a tremendous achievement and he (McLeish) would deserve a lot of credit but we have to face reality too.

"I think we have a good chance of reaching the next stage but it's unlikely we are going to win the Champions League so the only way to get back there next season is to finish first or second in the SPL."

Murray's continued backing for McLeish has not prevented newspapers speculating on who the next manager at Ibrox might be.

Charlton's Alan Curbishley, former Hearts chief George Burley, ex-Lyon boss Paul Le Guen and the Motherwell manager Terry Butcher have all been linked with the position.

Rangers haven't been this bad in their 132 year history. It is quite simple to explain, poor players and a manager who can no longer get the best out of them.

I think you have to be fair and question what manager could have done better with so many key players out. Novo,Prso and Buffel would all have made a difference on Saturday against Hibs. Injuries aren't the whole problem-there's a lack of belief and confidence-but if Rangers had had a full team to choose from every week then they wouldn't be in the position they're in now.

Having been and ( even after this disaster ), a Rangers supporter for the past fifty years, I think the main problem with the present team is " Heart ",. the total lack of it.
Too many players seem more concerned by getting their inflated wages by as little work as possible, perhaps if we started a new pay scale, payment by resukts only, it would solve our present problems, either by winning matches, or getting rid of highly paid players who have no idea or interest in the Rangers traditons.

Ferguson eyes further Euro glory

Rangers 1-1 Inter Milan
McLeish keeps quiet over future
Barry Ferguson believes Rangers can go on and progress beyond the last 16 in the Champions League.
"A miracle has happened this time so I don't see why it can't happen again," said the Ibrox skipper after reaching the knockout phase of the tournament.

"I don't care who we get, I'm just delighted that we got through.

"This beats everything I've ever done and I'm delighted for all the boys in the dressing room, the management and the coaching staff."

Rangers are the first Scottish club to qualify from the group stages of the Champions League.

Ferguson and his team-mates lost just one game from six to finish second in Group H but the club have been struggling on the domestic front.

We've kept our best football for the Champions League. I've not got the answer as to why we can't play like that in the league

Barry Ferguson

Despite, the European success, manager Alex McLeish is widely expected to be ousted from his post but Ferguson would like to see him stay on.

"I want Alex to be in charge when we play the next round, of course," added the Scotland international.

"He was the guy who brought me back (from Blackburn) when a few people didn't want me to come back.

"He had a lot of faith in me and I've got a lot of time for him.

"It's not for me to say what will happen, that's for others above me, but I'm happy for him.

"He's been under a lot of pressure, as have the players, but it's pressure that's been deserved because we've not been producing in the league.

"We've kept our best football for the Champions League. I've not got the answer as to why we can't play like that in the league, honestly.

"I hold my hands up and say that I haven't performed the way I can and if you ask any of the guys they will say the same.

"Hopefully this is a start for us. We played well, we've progressed into the last 16 and hopefully we can carry that onto the game against Kilmarnock at the weekend."
