How wonderful it was to witness, albeit on television, the splendid victory by the England and Wales cricket team and the sporting behaviour of the losing Australian team.

Let`s hope the quality game enjoys renewed interest in North Britain, the land successfully colonised by the original arrogant Angles of Northumbria.

Lots of the schools in the lowlands (so therefore YOUR northern Britons) DO play cricket.

But we lowlanders thank you for your interest in our sporting endeavours.

We have lots of crickets here on the Prairies. I have never seen them organized into a team. It must take amazing patience to train them.

It does indeed. Mind you, I think your humour is probably far too subtle for the 'true Scot'

The North British must now take up cricket.

I mean, let`s face it, something changed during that last cricket test. Something really did. Maybe it was modern technology which finally helped to explain to the uninitiated the rules. I don`t know.

At any rate, give Scottish youngsters an opportunity to play this character building sporting game.

Slap down the traditional Hey-Jimmies! That`s what I say.
