Jambo's - Realistically speaking!

Where do people think Hearts will finish this season. They have darted outta the starting blocks with a 3 win winning streak (100%) and look to be a good distance from the rest of the SPL 3rd place chasers. Can they go all the way and challenge all season?. Will they blow it on the last day? (like 1986) or will they just be going for a UEFA spot?

UEFA spot.

Hearts (and Hibs) have been such monumental failures in Scottish football history - I think it's 10 trophies compared to the Old Firm's 105 in the last 60 years - that the idea they could state with any certainty or confidence that they will deliver silverware is quite ludicrous. When Hearts or Hibs actually achieve something then we can take their vain windbag puffery seriously.

I think you will find that it is most football "pundits" in Scotland who are asking the question about how well Hearts will do in the league this year.

Comments like Alan Thompson saying "I believe Hearts think they can finish above us this season" are downright stupid. The truth is no-one at Hearts said such a thing. Of course we want to challenge the old firm, everyone WANTS to win the league. We are now in a position where investment is being put into the team and because of that the expectation levels do rise. It has been put on record by Romanov that he wants to win the league within 3 years (not this season).

Ask any sensible Hearts fan what we will achieve this year and the likely reply will be "probably 3rd place". After this season however,I think you can expect some serious fireworks, WE WILL BE A FORCE.

And what exactly is "vain windbag puffery" ?

We'll all believe it when we see it. Some of us have been here before with the likes of Hearts, Aberdeen, Hibs, Dundee Utd, etc. winning a few games and then having delusions about beating Rangers and Celtic to the title. We're still waiting for it to happen.
