McLeish makes SPL title admission
Rangers manager Alex McLeish says he is surprised that his side are challenging for the SPL title this season. McLeish's team finished 17 points behind Celtic last season. He admitted on Thursday that his expectations at the beginning of the season did not extend to winning the SPL title. "I think we're ahead of schedule in what we've achieved this season. I thought it would have been more difficult to be so close," he said. "I know we've not won anything yet, but to be up there challenging in the SPL and to be in our first cup final is tremendous. "It's testament to the hard work the players have put in." Tables : http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...es/default.stm |

I doubt very much that a man like Alex or a team like Rangers were thinking of anything except first place this season. There is no way that they assumed they would place second to Celtic this year.
He is just showing humility to the Press and making sure he does not stick his foot in it incase it all goes pear shaped. |
