I clicked on this website mentioned a few threads down and couldn't believe that the whole site is just an anti English website, what is this all about? Why make such a site? http://www.scotlandia.com

I don't think this a good advert for the Tartan army, who are supposed to be the best behaved fans and the nicest; this is not 'nice' at all. Spent your time, promoting Scottish football and related issues, not totally unrelated English bashing.

Not sure I totally agree. The site is having fun at Englands defeat by Portugal, that's for sure, but it's football and we are rivals.

Most Scots wanted Portugal to win but it's not anything to do with hate.

Having been to that site, I can suggest it goes much too far with its prejudice. It doesnt just cross the line into racism on occassion, it does it regularly.

But I am not worried. There are plenty of sites on the net with small minded prejudices, I cannot tar everyone with the same brush because of it. After all, I bet there are people saying the same things "on my behalf" about scotland and they do not speak for me.

Best not to go there really if it bothers you, these people are obviously extremely bigotted from the safety of their computer screens and by confronting them your just throwing fuel to the fire. Theres nothing you can do about it if it upsets you so, and lets face it, these types of people exist in all walks of life.

- The site does not only contain information on the Portugal game, it contains far more than that, such as a Scotland beating England in 1920 something or other, thats worse than mentioning 1966. I don't think you've looked over the site properly.
- We're rivals? We are, why didn't somebody tell me? As far as I can tell its oneway, with certain Scottish people supporting anyone (yes, anyone) who plays England.

Sire-Chris > I totally agree with you, its a shame as I feel this kind of thing is giving the Scots a bad name, especailly in this day and age.

Well I made a few posts there. Nothing nasty mind you, but just expressing my right to support whoever I want. We do live in free countries after all.

But Dazmate, don't tell me that the English comments are actually nice. I mean, check out number 79, who wants to exterminate the Scots.

I've been in England enough times to learn how to take in on the chin after Scotland get beat. And believe me, that's a lot of stick.

That whole messageboard breeds hatred. People react strongly because the initial messages are so strong. There is such a thing as banter and then there is just plan racism, and on that site I saw much more of the latter. Banter is about friendly rivalry, not about attacking others and actually believing vitriolic twaddle about a whole race of people.

I agree with Sire-Chris hate simply breeds more hatred and that's exactly what that website is doing. I agree a number of the messages on the board arn't nice at all but at the end of the end thats due to contents of this site.

Fair enough but I'm sure if England wasn't playing Scotland you wouldn't see loads of English people filing the pubs to pray for any team team to beat Scotland.
All seems pretty daft to me. Personally, ignoring the website for a sec, I think the hatered is very oneway and English people simply do not feel that way about Scottish. Although, it way be having more of a knock on effect now, with English people hearing about this and now choosing to ignore the Scots in the football and no longer support them, which is a real shame.
