You haven't noticed it so I must have imagined it! Interesting viewpoint.

As far as tarring all English supporters with the same brush, have you actually bothered to read what I have written?

In my opinion you are imagining it. I have never seen a report suggest the hooligans were british or scottish nor have I seen foreign opinions speak of them as british or scottish. It doen't reflect on scotland whatsoever.

And if you had read my post, you would see that I never directly said you were doing it, only that we were being tarred with the same brush. By some we certainly are.

This topic is about "Euro 2004"

It is not about the fans or your own Prejudices, or others towards you...please take it to the political forum or human rights or somewhere which is more appropriate and let this thread get back on track... the sport forum is not for discussing bigotry in any form its about discussing sport

Thankyou

I have no prejudices. I hope your not suggesting I do, since your post has followed one of mine.

I thought this was a decent discussion on scottish attitudes but if thats not in the spirit then so be it. I fully expect others to drop their political opinions on the subject in return and focus on the teams playing.

I think it'd be quite naive to think that politics and sport are not interrelated. Indeed, I thought that this was generally accepted as fact - for example, why are Scottish fans encouraged to support the teams that England are playing against in Euro 2004 by some newspapers?

Therefore if we are to have an all-encompassing discussion of sporting matters we need to examine all its constituent parts - and that includes politics.

I am only being aprehensive towards the fact that we are now taking the discussion on a course not fully attentive to the euro 2004 but rather more upon the scottish and english divide...

This I feel is not in the spirit of sport and thus should be moved to an area more appropriate for said discussion. I was not expecting to be wrong so far on two opinions and I am sorry if my aprehension has offended either of you.

Though with no direction and any particular poster in mind, I still say that this is now no more about euro 2004 as it is in my grannies rug fettish...

To discuss sport I would think it would be more about goals and strategys, and even projections on future forcasts....

However if the majority believes that sport in general should be also discussed to the barriers of bigotry and facism then I would be happy to amend my views.

just let me know

When people will hold bigoted views towards my country I will challenge them. Including the rather minor offence of cheering anyone we play and making blanket statements claiming we care.
