The resons Scots don't want England to win anything at football is simple ...just listen to John Motson, make you want to vomit!!

Somarlidh.
I never realised I was in the company of such Angels! How is the Archangel Gabriel these days? There is never any violence at Scottish football matches! How silly of me!

I dont feel the need to argue for the fans involved, or even argue englands case, as there isnt one. All hooligans should be banned.

But that said, Im a rugby league fan first and foremost. Quintessentially english and no trouble at matches whatsoever. Maybe your just a inflammitory bigot who tars all english with the same brush.

Your last statement...So if we got rid of John Motson the scots would like us eh? I sincerely doubt it. I think the reasons are much much more than just the media.

anyone for rugby?

Hello, I am a newbie from downunder, born a scot, still a scot, but living in kiwiland fitba is called soccer and rugby is the holy grail.
So it's been a case of join in, cos there's no wai in h... of beating them.
The all blacks kicked the supposed wurld champions last weekend and look set to do it again on saturday.
It has cost me a pretty penny over the years to support the scottish rugby team, however, the kiwis are always in awe of their passion. Every time they tour, they seem to rise up, never win, but they rise up!!. Anyway. I detect a little anti-english sentiment out there. There is the same thing in this country towards the aussies. Kiwi's will support the all blacks and any other team playing them!
So much for the Anzac spirit,eh.
Thad doesn't mean that at the first sign of aussie bashing from anyone will not be met with a bit of kiwi support,,, but not as much as they would notice mind. Don't want them getting big headded or anything.

Kust thought I would add my tuppence worth to this fine theread.

I'm in an Englishman in Scotland and have been pretty surprised by the reaction to the football recently.
I just can't make out why numerous Scottish people support any team who plays against England. I can understand this if Scotland were playing them but other than that it makes little sense to me.
Originally, I was living in London, I knew a number of people who supported all the British teams. I believe this is the case for the majority of English people.

Imagine that England cheering on Scotland when they are playing anyone but England and Scotland hoping we lose full stop, that’s makes me feel quite sad really. Come on you guys give us a break here.

Smile Euro 2004

Gabriel is good, taking it easy and enjoying the football with the other guys.Although we had to watch the game with the sound off! for reasons every Scot knows.
On a more important note, why do some English fans always spoil it for the majority, every time they go abroad they riot, not only at international level but often at club level. As for your point on violence at Scottish games it is no where near the level that follows English teams, see Celtic in Europe over the past 2 seasons.
I may be inflammatory but i'm no bigot and i don't tar the English with the same brush,i'll leave that to the minority of English thugs on tour.

You just did.

True England fans also hate these mindless thugs that put our name to shame, but as you so rightly pointed out these groups of 'people' are the MINORITY.

Also I have to agree with Dazmate, whenever Scotland (or even Wales and Ireland) are playing agaisnt anyone other than our own team, most English people do root for Scotland to win. It is sad that a lot of Scots actually root for England to LOSE.

Seriously, what is it? Because I'm sure as Hell it has NOTHING to do with the British press!

I don't have anything against the england team. It's the small minority of english fans that get to me though. When we see english fans on the news rioting, we dont think "OH MY GOD, THAT'S TERRIBLE", but instead we think, "well we knew that, tell us something new" Rioting should be a rare thing, and it is with most fans, but not the english fans. And to be fair most a lot of the enlish cheer for the scottish team "probably because most people feel sorry for us, having such a crap team"
