Cool

yea in america soccer, theres less fighting, but in europe, there is definately more fighting in soccer. probably because its so much more popular there. I even heard that a ref.'s ear was cut off because some fans didn't like the calls he made during a game.

Hi all

Just to add a little about soccer and Europe (at least in Greece)

The fighting that goes on is mainly among the fans, well actually, fanatics...lol

Entire stadiums can be destroyed by the 'passions' of some fans...and the fighting and destrucion spills out into the streets...

When a team loses an 'important' game it's fans 'retaliate' by destroying various things..such as shops, cars,ect..

Fans here travel with their team to various cities and after the end of the game are not allowed to leave the stadium for some time...this is to prevent fights...

Once a popular team from Athens was playing in Thesalonika (about 500kl away) the fans from Athens were kept in the stadium for an hour and a half after the end of the game...in return the fans from Thesalonika attacked all cars in the streets that had Athenean plates...pulled people out of their cars and beat them and destroyed their vehicles...

I personally do not attend games much, I only go to unimportant games (with teams of less ranking than mine).I do enjoy sports but, at least here in Greece, I avoid going to any kind of sporting event for the above stated reasons...

lol...I enjoy not having broken bones much more...lol

Red face

Hey, thats just crazy!! I've heard about things like happening. Over here in America, that doesnt happen. Probably because its not even close to as popular here. Most people think its a "girls sport", at least the people that are my age. Pretty much the ones that dont know how hard it can be. Anywho, I had to get that in it bugs me so much that people can still be that ignarent and niave.
Asta la bye bye
