Here's another link from the BBC you can watch the video from past events.

The video highlights the carnage thats created people breaking bones, splitting heads open, blood, members of the crowd being taken out. etc etc everything you would expect from people tumbling down a steep uneven hill

People can end up with broken bones but its a great laugh watching it.

LOL, I thought you would like them.

If your ever in the UK about May/June head down to Gloucester and see it for your self. If your feeling brave why not enter? lol

I'm trying to find the links for the game in Derbyshire I cant remember the name at all. If I do find it I'll post the link.

In reply to Mistress: Sorry I took awhile to reply I've been away to the Lake District.

Gloucestershire is a county in the South of England near Bristol (well just a little further north). You will hear most people in the England refer to it as Cheltanham and Gloucestershire. (the two main towns separated by the M5 motorway, the nearest airport is Bristol or Birmingham and then travel south through the Cotswolds)

Here's a good site to show the delights of the Cotswolds and Gloucestershire area

The Barrel role is another Traditional event in England. It happens in a few towns ,ie, Lewes in Sussex in Novermber. It involves the whole town congregating in the village center where the participants all gather at the start area. A barrel is filled with Tar and set on fire they then have to pick it up put it on there shoulders and run through the town with it. The idea is to keep going until it gets to hot or the barrel falls apart. Once it gets to hot you just pass it to the next person in line and so on until it falls apart. There is no track they run through the crowd if you go to watch be prepared to get out of the way....FAST!!! There was a sky TV programe on it an American show which showed how fun/dangerous it can be.

Here's a link.

theres also barrel role which is just the rolling of barrels down the street in a race or relay style again funny watching it. The Armed forces do a bigger style of the race. (search the web for English events, there's hundreds)

Cheers
