Cameron trying to scupper independence?
This is sickening: BBC News - Cabinet discussing Scottish referendum vote
It's obvious what Cameron's up to. He thinks if he can push for an early vote, that the tide isn't yet fully in favour of independence and that this would favour the Unionists. He also wants to restrict Scottish voters choices by forcing them to make a straight up choice between independence and remaining a part of the UK. So he is looking to throw the idea of 'independence lite' out of the window, no doubt assuming that if people are forced to make a straight choice, their nerves might give way. It's absurd that a prime minister and a party who has virtually no mandate whatsoever in Scotland, should take it upon himself to interfere in Scottish politics. It should be for the Scottish people to decide what they want for themselves! |

Well Salmond is doing it right. Call it as he sees it. This is not an English or Westminster issue. Keep telling Westminster that they cannot dictate the terms of any referendum - so that if they try to impose their will it will look like they are trying to railroad Scotland into making a choice that is not of their making.
Stay fast and stay the course in other words ... Last edited by jebus197; 11th January 2012 at 13:22. |

This is getting some coverage on the news here in NZ.
My opinion is that London should "Butt Out" and let the Scottish people deal with this in their own way and in their own time. That Mr Cameron needs to keep his big fat gob shut. Him and all his mates in London are a bunch of tossers. I will be looking forward to Scotland gaining its independance back, something that should never have been taken from them. |
