can scotland become independent

i was born in edinburgh but moved south when a child,so i have spent most of my life there.i came back 12years ago .the beauty of scotland and the quality of life here i never take for granted .livng in a large english city is starkly different. i firmly believe that scotland is run for the scottish people and england is run for the rich and powerful.what are your experiences.

i think Scotland is much the same just not as bad

we still have councils that do things and the state still runs services that in England have all been privatised...our gov seems to be trying to keep the status quo where in England its save save save. the UK gov seem to be always looking for things to cut where as i think the scots gov look for ways to pay for the services

then there's the general out look on life.....we tend to be a happier bunch

If Scotland can survive economically as an independant country then sure why not have independence.

Scotland has always had a funny way: The Scots invited the Normans ino their country, rather than being conquerd by them. Then they went to war with England in the Wars of Independence in which their forces were largley made from families of Norman origin - and they won independence. Then in 1603 the King of Scotland became King of England too. (Then Cromwell the ******* came along). Then in 1707 the parliaments of the two countries were united - of course many were divded over this. So I think Scottish Independence in this day and age would just be the Scots being Scottish!

The vast majority of Scots work. I think Scotland is no different to a lot of other western countries in that it has a large retired population unlike a lot of less developed countries.
I think the Daily Mail is an appalling newspaper, it just seems full of inaccurate information. A recent article it printed on Richard Dawkins was just so wrong in my opinion.

I don't like the Daily Mail, especially the online version.

Polwarth,I am retired now but want the best for Scotland's future and to see a booming economy, but with the depressing news of a collapsing EU , I will have to be convinced of the benefits for Scotland under the EU. Personally, I don't think it will fair well at all.
