The Brit nat arguments FOR the union.
It's hard I believe to make a positive case for the union and much more likely they'll make a negative case.
This guy discuses that and his analysis is about right. Duncan Hamilton: Inclusive coalition for change is best way forward for Scotland - Scotland on Sunday I think the union is doomed (or is it wishful thinking) but in my opinion a negative campaign would actually be more effective than a positive campaign against us. Their campaign will be out of touch with the Scottish people and they'll have to appeal to their Brit nat base who'll lap up a negative campaign. I have not yet heard a single positive argument from the Brit nats except to say : 1) Scotland has done well out of the union (an argument we can pull to bits and offer a better vision of Scotland ). 2) The second is Scotland couldn't have funded the banking bailout (that can be argued against and positively in favour of a responsible Scottish banking system under government scrutiny). 3) The English tax-payer subsidises Scotland (not true, we've subsidised the English since 1707 but we need to produce the financial figures for this and offer a vision of a reindustrialised Scotland). Apart from that... anybody else got ideas? |
