Mikolass
I travel about the net as much as any do. I have seldom seen anyone post such irrate lengthy posts and even more rarely have I seen someone get so worked up into a carnival frenzy so quickly. Go lie down somewhere, calm down and remember that NOTHING we do here changes the world outside of the forum folk who usually hold well defined views anyway. The next GE will be along in a few years and you can stand for UKIP or BNP or Tory or whatever it is that you support. Relax laddie. Life's too short. |

"the downfall of this once great nation"?? That's kind of like killing the formerly living. Your brain is not working properly. So keep ranting like you have been and the chances of securing Scottish independence will improve.

Also currently these are largely English wars. It's England as ever sucking up to the Americans in an attempt to maintain some sense of imperial glory by proxy. Basically it's a bit like hanging out with the big guy, because when he goes and kicks someone's ass, if you help him maybe people will still fear and respect you too. Scotland has no similar historical tradition towards imperialism at all. (I think we tried to set up some tiny colony in America once in the 1600's, but it failed disastrously and Scotland quickly gave up all aspirations towards empire after this.) The point in any case is, if you gave Scotland a much more independent voice, it's doubtful that we would continue to participate in many of these wars. We have no interest in them. In fact if we pulled out of them, I can't see why terrorists would even be remotely interested in us any more. It's only because we do continually get involved that we have made ourselves a target. (Not that terrorism in Scotland has ever been a big threat, the last lot who tried this basically got their heads kicked in by a bunch of passers-by in Glasgow, lol) But yeah, in any case (although I would prefer neutrality and to spend the defence budget in caring for our people, investing in the economy and in beefing up education), if it came down to it and people still thought we needed such a big military budget, I think there should be a joint Scottish/English command. We should also certainly pledge to play a full part in defending this island, should we, or the English ever come under threat. Also there's no point in promoting the 'UK government' to me, lol. I simply don't recognise it and I think all the decisions they make pertaining to Scotland and Scottish affairs are wholly illegitimate. This doesn't mean I hate them, or that I hate the English, (I don't, lol, I lived there for 20 years), or that we can't negotiate with them to gain greater devolution and/or independence for Scotland. I simply don't recognise them as representing the true voice of the Scottish people. So to me they are English wars and any Scots who help to facilitate them are simply in collusion with them. (There will always be a few, who will seek more power, wealth an influence for themselves, and who see greater opportunity to do this as a part of a larger nation.) |
