Labour sleeze... UNREPORTED by the BritNat press

It's time the BritNat bratpack's non-reporting of Labour sleeze AND their false reporting of pro Labour commentry was balanced by what Labour actually gets up to.

Here is a spot to deal with that.

It should be a separate forum in my view, as is being thought about by the lovely Celyn, but this is a place to begin looking at their actions and how Scotland is affected by them...

Newsnet Scotland

Newsnet scotland may well be a large source of the 'balanced ' reporting since the BritNat press is coloured red white and Blue at all costs. Newsnet have kindly made available all their articles except those written by two of their journalists (see newsnet policy on site)

Labour MSP investigated over schoolchildren data

Friday, 20 August 2010 15:44

The UK Information Commissioner has confirmed that an investigation has begun into the disclosure of personal data from a number of local primary schools to Labour MSP Karen Whitefield MSP.

The investigation follows complaints from members of the public after the MSP for Airdrie and Shotts obtained confidential information on local schoolchildren in order to send them personal letters.

The matter was taken up by SNP MSP Alex Neil who was contacted by concerned parents from the constituency. It is believed that many of these children are on protection orders and it is unclear how the information was passed to Ms Whitefield.

It has also yet to be established if the Labour MSP still has the information in her possession, who else in her office had access to it or if she passed it on to anyone else.

Mr Neil said:
"I am reassured at the Information Commissioner investigating Karen Whitefield's irresponsible data protection breach, and how she got to have this information in the first place.

"This is not a trivial matter despite Karen Whitefield's blasé response last week. If some of the children were under protection or other legal orders it has serious ramifications and she should know that as the Chair of the Parliament Education Committee.

"I have not been told how long the investigation will take but I hope that North Lanarkshire Council and the ICO publish their findings soon."

Karen Whitefield has admitted obtaining the personal information from local schools in the area and confirmed that she had sent out the letters. Ms Whitefield explained that she had been doing so for many years.

In 2001 a similar incident involving the same local authority and Labour politicians also resulted in an investigation by the Information Commission.

Former First Minister Jack McConnell, who was then the education Minister, and Labour MP Frank Roy tried to obtain the personal details of schoolchildren due to move on to secondary education. North Lanarkshire Council provided the pair with the names of all head teachers in the area and letters were sent to each pupil.

The stunt caused outrage amongst parents and teachers. It led to the Teachers Union complaining directly to North Lanarkshire Council.

Ms Whitefield is the second Labour MSP this week to face the prospect of an investigation after the Labour MSP for Greenock and Inverclyde, Duncan McNeil, was heavily criticised following remarks he made regarding the deaths of the three Riggi children.

Home schooling organisation Scoolhouse have confirmed that they are to make a formal complaint to the Scottish Parliament about Mr McNeil’s conduct.

Speaking as a teacher, I find this disgraceful.

The reports of these children are for teachers' eyes only and any headmaster who gives this info to self-serving politicians should be severely reprimanded.

Had the SNP been doing this, the Labourites would have been outraged and calling for resignations all over the place. The Daily Retard would have written a title such as : "Nats abuse our innocents", or some such Retarded tosh.

O'Connell et al should be investigated by the police for this. The headmasters involved should also be questioned.

It's disgraceful.

McAveety under fire for hiring ‘coffin dodger’ remark candidate
Wednesday, 25 August 2010

A disgraced Labour MSP has come under fire after it emerged that he had hired a former Labour election candidate who had been sacked after making derogatory remarks about old people and ethnic minorities.

An SNP MSP has reacted angrily to the news that Stuart McLennan had been employed by Frank McAveety to work in the Labour MSP's constituency office in Glasgow.

MacLennan was sacked as Labour’s candidate for Moray during the general election campaign when it emerged that he had labelled old people “coffin dodgers”. He also made offensive references to ethnic minorities and alluded to sectarian football songs.

Frank McAveety was recently forced to step down from his position as Labour sports spokesman and Petitions Committee convener after making remarks about a young female sitting in the Parliament's public gallery.

Mr McAveety was heard to say: "There's a very attractive girl in the second row, dark ... and dusky. We'll maybe put a wee word out for her."

"She's very attractive looking, nice, very nice, very slim. The heat's getting to me."

SNP MSP Bill Kidd said it was “beyond a joke” that someone like McLennan could be employed by McAveety.

Mr Kidd said:
“This is clearly the office for inappropriate and offensive comments.

“Two men and their big mouths in one office is a recipe for disaster.

“After Mr McAveety’s inappropriate comments, it is beyond a joke that he hires as a staff member someone whose attitude has been publicly exposed as being as bad as his.”

Comments by MacLennan included calling people in the north of Scotland "teuchters" and jokes about slavery. However Mr MacLennan hit back at the SNP and accused them of using him as a “pawn” for party political gain.

The former Labour party researcher said: “I have spent the last four months apologising to people for what happened in April, when I was removed as Labour’s candidate for Moray.

“I have been trying to move on with my life then this happens. I am just devastated.

“Today I have been thinking: ‘Just how many times do I have to be punished for my offence?’ I am not looking to re-build my political career. I just want a job.”

Mr McAveety claimed that Mr MacLennan was an unpaid volunteer who did not deal with constituency work while based at his office.

A Labour party spokesman confirmed that Mr MacLennan remained suspended from the party.

Mr MacLennan is not the first person suspended by the Labour party to have been controversially re-employed. In July, developers Allan Stewart and Stephen McKenna, both Labour party donors, announced they had given disgraced former Labour boss Steven Purcell a post with their charitable foundation.

The businessmen are behind several housing projects in and around Glasgow. In 2007, shortly after the Labour controlled Glasgow council agreed to pay them £1.7 million for a plot of land, one of their firms gave £5000 to Scottish Labour. In 2006 Mr Stewart gave £4100 to his local Labour party in East Kilbride.

Saorsa, I'd nae idea ye were a teacher! not that that means anything these days, ditto McAveety! You would think that a teacher, who saw wee lassies, however dusky, day in and day oot, would have learned common sense long ago. The Labour party has long ago ceased to be a "movement" and has deteriorated into a career option for the upwardly mobile, Joke MacConnell et al. They're in it for the bucks as Jimmy Reid well knew, and castigated them at every opportunity. The sad thing is that the media is controlled by the unionists and the Nat's don't get a fair crack of the whip. wullie m
