Hindsight is a great thing, but I think the Labour Party naivety in thinking devolution would kill nationalism was astonishing.

There is another good reason why a referendum for independance should be given to us; if (or when) the tories win the next UK general election scotland will only return a handful of tory MP's which means we would not be adequately represented in the governing party.

Will that be a good reason for, say, Devon independence, or Liverpool independence?

Should those swathes of Scotland not represented by the SNP at the moment declare independence too?

God only knows where this leaves Northern Ireland...

Funny you should mention NI, for that's exactly what your British friends did with it.

Anyway, why were nationalist/republican areas left in NI? Roll on united Ireland. It's coming.
