Cod Conservation

Within a month of announcing discussions had been taking place between the fishing industry and the Scottish government, an initiative to assist cod conservation is being implemented.

Skippers will sound the alert when they encounter stocks of small cod. The areas where they are found will close to protect the stocks which, if caught at present, must be discarded.

This is excellent news - as long as the fishermen abide by it. Hopefully most Scottish ones will - but what about the rest ?
