The Dumfries Volunteers by Robert Burns
rather long poem that can be found at 526. Song-The Dumfries Volunteers. Burns, Robert. 1909-14. Poems and Songs. The Harvard Classics
if needed but i thought this verse would be a good stimulus for more annoying mudslinging by all sides O let us not, like snarling curs, In wrangling be divided, Till, slap! come in an unco loun, And wi’ a rung decide it! Be Britain still to Britain true, Amang ourselves united; For never but by British hands Maun British wrangs be righted! No! never but by British hands Shall British wrangs be righted! |

So was Burns probably, not really sure what point im trying to make by showing it, perhaps that pride in your nation and pride in being part of the greater unit (be it the entire world or the entire island) is possible and has been done by a man who is almost always mentioned as a nationalist.
Oh and all the smart people are internationalists anyway, as Bill Hicks put it "it's a round world last time i checked" |
