If you voting in the Scottish Elections(May 3rd)

Please don't vote for the 2 main parties, after 18 years of the Tory’s and now 9 years of labour I've come to the realisation that if one of these parties are in power the other knows their just keeping the seat warm .

They are living with a sure thing and they know it, so I think it's about time we moved the goal posts on this cushy situation for them and watched the party's of arrogance squirm as the public say once and for all "you've taken us all for granted for too long and the gravy train is now over".

I hardly think you can call the Conservatives one of the two main parties in this country anymore. Maybe fifty years ago.

..........
(bolding mine)

Are you perhaps thinking about General Elections instead? And, of course, the Tories cannot really be counted as all that big a deal.

Big in the UK, small in Scotland...

The reverse of the SNP - small in the UK, big in Scotland.

At the 2003 Scottish Parliament elections, the SNP polled only around 100,000 more than the Conservatives - and the Conservatives polled more than the Lib Dems. And this in a climate of defeatism in the Conservative movement in Scotland, a feeling that voting for Conservative is a waste of time resulting in many stay-at-home Conservative voters. I think people might be pleasantly surprised by the Conservative performance in this election. At least, I hope so.

You are Annabel Goldie and I claim my £5.

Yes, indeed, that would be all right. I certainly will not be voting for your lot, but it is healthy that there should be an "opposition" (for want of a less confrontational sort of term) party, and the Liberal "Democrats" do seem to be rather too good at getting more power than they were elected to have.

Oh well, we'll soon see, I suppose.

Hooray, Hooray,
the third of May

Is that in the first or second ballot?

Anyway, it is a nonsense to say "only 100,000". That is a lot in a population of five million, of whom hundreds of thousands don't vote to begin with. The Tories in Scotland have been saved by the two things they opposed - PR and devolution.

I think that they stand to gain though.
