I have to confess to trying the Express a few months ago. I think it was a cover price promotion - 10p or something. That might still be the case. Nothing of substance in it but in the fortnight trial I gave it, there must have been at least four days when Princess Diana stories were on the front page.

Apparently, it was the paper of choice in Scotland many years ago when it was published in Scotland and before the rise of the Record.

Metro has a small left-wing bias. For some reason, it also accepts and publishes, without question, the political viewpoints of various charities, such as Oxfam, Christian Aid and Greenpeace. I get the impression it's written by, and aimed at, people in their early to mid 20's. Those are the kind of folk you see stopping for the charity muggers in the street - whilst the rest of us walk past them saying 'c'mon the nuclear power'.

This is funny yet ridiculously false.

Don't be ridiculous...

Acid isn't anywhere near that expensive.

I can't say I've had much opportunity to read the Metro. I go on the Underground occasionally when I'm in Glasgow, but aside from that I never use buses after a certain incident a few years back where I was threatened for money or something by a few drunk neds... anyway, they started causing a hoo-hah and the police happened to drive by and the bus stopped and pulled over. I went out and talked to the county's finest and they basically said 'oh, there's three of them and one of you... chances are if you pursue it they'll place a complaint against you saying that you attacked them and you'll end up in the district court on an assault charge'. The bus company and driver were no use either.

So there goes my airy-fairy environmentalism.
