Ask your MP

Why should Britain pay for a TV licence to keep the BBC when the rest of the world watches BBC FREE!!!

Why should we have an increase on our TV licences so that other countries can see and hear BBC radio and pay no licences.

WELL ,,,,,,,,,,WHY SHOULD WE ????????????????????

I totally agree with you. The Licence Fee should be scrapped and the BBC should raise money like every other TV company does, via advertising.

Goodness, you've been away for a long time, RFraser... and now a new nickname... But see you are still re-hashing the threads you started under other name(s).

While I disagree with the TV Licence...

People in other countries do not get the BBC for free on the same basis that we do. The likes of BBC America are run on a commercial basis, have adverts and are expected to make a profit or break even. The only places that you can really get the BBC free of charge are some parts of France and the Irish republic - and trust me, that's not by design and it'd be more expensive for us to restrict access to these places.

I pay a subscription fee for BBC Canada - which also has advertising.

When the BBC was the leading light in world broadcasting the licence fee was justified-it was providing a premium service that was worth paying for.Now that it is just one of hundreds of broadcasting companies it is difficult to make a case for continuing to charge a licence fee from every TV user especially given that it is set to soar to over £180.What they are providing just doesn't justify that amount of money.

Agreed. The BBC has been going downhill for quite a while.
