I sounded too radical before...sorry. You know when you have young ones you worry about everything. Whether you have been here 40years or 4mo., it is not easy because of the taxation, unemployment rate, etc. Any one know how hard it is to getting a working visa for Scotland?

VISA's for commonweath countries ie Canada.
Not too hard to get.
I lived in Scotland for 6 years, then Canada now California.
I go back almost everyyear for a couple of months.
I still have my daughter in Vancouver, BC
and she comes down here or I go up there.
Don't forget, Britain has some same Laws
we do in Canada and Taxes are HIGH TOO!
So be ware.
But it's a grand place all the same.

PS, I don't know if I can get use to these
EARTHQUAKES in the middle of the night like
Saturday morning and 3 last night????
OH< well welcome to CALIFORNIA!

Hi Fiona,
You must live in Southern CA if your still feeling the ground shaking? I represent a photographer based in London who shoots for the London Daily Telegraph (earned her degree from St. Andrews) & where do you think she want's to move to: San Francico!
(Her flat in London is about triple the prices of real estate in CA!)
But I would definitly choose Scotland over England anyday!

hi,greenshamrock and others.
if its any consolation to you the taxes here in australia are very high too, working overtime is just not worth it as its puts you automatically into the next higher tax threshold.
we also have the tendacy to look after anyone other than the locals i.e like many others we had thousands from kosovo which i dont mind, but what i do object to was the goverments decision to pay them up to ten thousand dollars to return home.recently we have been swamped by people from east timor
again i dont mind, but now they say that they dont wont to go home and we have to pay the legal fees for them to take us to court to prevent extradition.on top of all this we currently have in excess of several thousand
boat people living in camps up north which we have been paying for for years.
the reason i mention this is because i work six days a week pay high taxes and have to wait hours in the casualty section of the hospital due to the lack of nurses.
our kids sit in classes with no air-conditioning with tempretures in excess of
50 degress c (yes 50C)
but i suppose im still very lucky. im safe,
have food and beer money and i get sundays off
