The 1707 Act of Union has in fact been transgressed many times, and these have been well documented. Have a wee look at Robbie the Pict's comments on it:

Perhaps your own education might benefit a little.

It only took two years to transgress the act for it stipulated that Scotland would retain its own mint and be allowed to manufacture its own coinage but the Edinburgh mint was closed down in 1709.

With all due respect, Robbie The Pict is a self righteous moron in the Peter Dow mould.

Indeed Mr Pict and Mr Dow might like to get together and discuss how fascist Judges have conspired against them!

Both have shady pasts and prefer baseless smears to reasoned argument.

In fact they could sign up JacobiteJamie for a threesome!

Now there is a thought.

This is an excellent point!

Also, the European Union is a French idea to get thru peaceful means what they couldn't get thru war -- domination of Europe.

It would be an excellent point were we living in the eighteenth century.A Treaty drawn up 300 years ago has limited relevance to the political situation which exists in this day and age.

Well spoken, Andy! You remind me of a Confederate Texas ancestor of mine (He was killed by the Unionists at the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863)who said something along the same lines in 1860 in regards to our federal union in America!

Indeed, many of the Southern Confederate republicans also had a theory that Southern Independence would not lead to a civil war with the Northern Unionists, which it did...

Can you prove that Scottish independence will not led to violence and a British civil war? No, you can't!!! and the historic example is that a breakup of a nation more frequently than not does led to civil war.

One more thing: Scottish republicanism may create an English republic...Does the name of Oliver Cromwell ring a bell? Hmmm? Just look at what Cromwell did to Ireland in the bad bad old days? Do you want a Cromwell redux? You Scottish republicans are acting from a false assumtion that the English will just sit back and do nothing when they wake up some fine morning and discover one-third of the island of Britannia is independent of Westminister.

They may well decide to march north and hang the Scottish republicans, and as the English out number the Scots ten-to-one, the issue would not long be in doubt.

Visit http://crossofstgeorge.net/home.htm to hear what the English man on the street is saying about these and other issues.
