As for Gordon Brown, well he's not that new and he's not exactly much of an improvement. Same as Tony Blair, only more lugubrious and less smarmy. Same policies though, despite his claim to have a "moral compass". I only mention that he's not exactly new to emphasise that he has had enough time to show us if he is any improvement over Blair. And he hasn't. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

I'm truly pleased that Obama won, as the thought of Sarah Palin* anywhere near power was very scary, and I think he genuinely does look like being better than Bush. Mind you, I do see that some nutters around the internet have decided that he is the Antichrist. The world is not short of weirdos, eh?

I get the impression you were not pleased, perhaps, at foreigners commenting on U.S. politics? Fair enough up to a point, but the U.S. President is so damn powerful that the matter does rather tend to affect a lot of the world. Look on the bright side - all of a sudden, the world is happy for, and pleased with, the U.S. again. Not that you need to care what other people think, and not that hopeful good wishes are a currency you can spend in the shops, but, well, we just ARE, that's all.

* Had it been Michael Palin, now, that would be different.
I must confess I know nothing about Gordon Brown I was just parrotting a similar remark.I dont mind criticism of our government in the least,as long as it is constructive and knowledgable. The dictionary we use here is the Webster not the Collins and my spelling is just fine.Actually I put the e in by mistake,I meant to edit it but happy hour had started so it got relegated to fix it later status.Just to make a point I would hardly call anyone born and raised in Scotland a foreigner, perish the thought. Now if you were English.:cool
