It's too bad that a lot of these kinds of posters won't listen to or accept reality. I guess my 'job' as an American is to let Scots know that not all of us have bought into, or long for Brigadoon and to tell the Americans that the real world and Hollywood are hundreds of years apart!

I did try to explain things but maybe they weren't much accepted? After all, I am just a Levi's wearing, fence sitting, hay chewing, boot stomping, cow branding, Indian chasing, coyote roping old cowgirl who (horror of horrors) can't sing or play the guitar well! heh heh heh!
I happen to like whiskey swigging.shortbread munching, but I don't do too much heatherhopping or haggis chasing these days.I consider my job to perpetuate those myths,so the flow of cash keeps going to the land o haggis bashers. At least the sassenachs canny take that away.

Hmmm - he's hardly 'new', Matthew. And ANYONE would be a vast improvement over the lying, cheating moron, aka Tony BLiar.

Tsk, tsk, don't you mean "encyclopędia, dear boy? Only joking! Fair play, I had also been going to whine about the "e" in "whisky", but I got distracted by something shiny, I suppose. Still, for all we know, you are drinking U.S. American whiskey, heretical though it may seem.

As for Gordon Brown, well he's not that new and he's not exactly much of an improvement. Same as Tony Blair, only more lugubrious and less smarmy. Same policies though, despite his claim to have a "moral compass". I only mention that he's not exactly new to emphasise that he has had enough time to show us if he is any improvement over Blair. And he hasn't. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

I'm truly pleased that Obama won, as the thought of Sarah Palin* anywhere near power was very scary, and I think he genuinely does look like being better than Bush. Mind you, I do see that some nutters around the internet have decided that he is the Antichrist. The world is not short of weirdos, eh?

I get the impression you were not pleased, perhaps, at foreigners commenting on U.S. politics? Fair enough up to a point, but the U.S. President is so damn powerful that the matter does rather tend to affect a lot of the world. Look on the bright side - all of a sudden, the world is happy for, and pleased with, the U.S. again. Not that you need to care what other people think, and not that hopeful good wishes are a currency you can spend in the shops, but, well, we just ARE, that's all.

* Had it been Michael Palin, now, that would be different.
