It is only recently that I have had time to research my Scottish heritage.
So I went looking for sites on the Internet to help me and this one just seemed right, I am so glad that I joined.

Everyone has been so helpful when I have requested information and I am much further advanced in my search than I thought I would be at this stage thanks to this site.

Cheers

I fist came here in January 2000 but the board then was totally different. There was a far higher number of posts and you could get some good in depth discussions on the history and politics boards but now that forums like this are far more numerous S.com doesn't have the same appeal.

I had over the years researched my genealogy, and there is Scots in the family. Anyone, it seems, with the last name of Scott is a Scot. My grandmother insisted that we were directly related to Sir Walter Scott (isn't everyone?).

I started researching (my grandmother is long passed away) and called my mother to tell her that grandma was right. We truly were directly related to Sir Walter Scott. It turns out my great great grandfather's first name was Sir, his middle was Walter and his last name was Scott. He was a farmer in Indiana.

So every so often I look around the net to find other tidbits of family history and stumbled across this sight and it looked quite comfy.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with that.
