Andy, hope no offence was caused. I don't mean to suggest there's anything bad about Scotland, was just curious as to what Scots views were on this phenomenon, going by people they've known. As for Scotsites, I'm not going to bother to justify myself to you any more.

I'm neutral to the viewpoints of english-curious and being an infrequent visitor here nowadays I'm not aware of any track record but I just take the view if you have a problem with the questions someone is asking the best option is to ignore them. I think it's a reasonable topic to explore given that a skill shortage due partly to migration is an important issue for Scotland at present.

It looks to me like EC is being hounded out of the forum unfairly, stop challenging his every post, if you think he's wumming - ffs, ignore it!

As for the question, not a Scot but; Not many Scots here, i guess it wouldn't make sence moving to a poorer area of the UK to work, staying in the more prosperous Edinburgh or Glasgow would make more sence.

EC, i would suggest writing your next article(s) in a completely neutral manner as not to provoke in the future.

ok tell you what, let's give the curious one a chance then... he/she can explain where he/she gets the idea that the cream of the Scottish crop always head south or to the US or that Scotland a hotbed of talent that wants to stay... the only condition I will impose is that he/she has to do it without making any sort of derogatory statement about Scotland and the Scottish people!

The thing is, had he/she phrased his/her questions similarly to Andy's comment (a skill shortage due partly to migration is an important issue for Scotland at present) then maybe I would have reacted differently! Having said that, even if that had happened, chances are somewhere along the line it would have turned in to yet another attack on Scotland and the Scots by english-curious!

I don't get either of those ideas, I offered them both up as contrasting alternatives for you to ponder-the question was phrased in an unbiased way and is unoffensive to anyone who isn't paranoid.

This response is as pathetic as the original "questions"!
