Dear Admin
In reply to my letter of the 12th April I have had 5 replies on the boards and 8 e-mails saying that it was a great idea and i e-mail that said I should not bother as no one would post in it. 2 moderators said it was a good idea and one said it could go in with the Clans board.

Not sure if I mentioned it Marhar, since we haven't had much chance to talk lately, but you can add me to that growing list.

How will the members know if they should post in Clans or Geneology? Should the Clans forum just change names? Is there a footer we could place to distinguish between the two? And, one last question...who wants to moderate ?

As the idea was put forward by Marhar should he not moderate it.
I wouldnt want to do it thats for sure !!!

As I said before he has researched his family tree back to the 12th century
and does have the time(hopefully) to help others in their search, he has already helped members here.

Geneology says what it is - tracing one's ancestors and clans are a
different matter.

Dear Admin
I will try to answer some of your questions,

1 If you put a query for a search in "Clans" You are just looking for the name of a "Family" to belong to.

2 Genealogy is different, you are trying to find out where your ancestors came from, who they were, what they did for a living and the dates when they were there. Also all their relatives, so that you can build up YOUR family tree.

3 I don't think running the two together would do either justice.

4 This would be a help forum for genealogy, rather than a " Have it done for you" As there are professionals who undertake that job.

5 I would be willing to assist in Moderating this forum.

6 I would like to thank all members who took the time to reply to this call for a Genealogy forum.
