Northern lights.

Guys, the northern lights are expected tonight about midnight Aug'4th, should be visible quite far south if clear skies! wullie m

We were meant to get them last night , the Southern Lights that is , (Aurora Australis) , but it came to nought. Later tonight perhaps , bit overcast at the moment , I can't see anything thru the clouds yet .

I live right in the north of Scotland, and am used to seeing the northern lights. The display you mentioned was billed as, and turned out to be, pretty special though, as some of the photos here demonstrate. I saw precisely nothing here, though, due to thick persistent cloud every day of the display. Pah!

Apparently the Sun's activity next year will produces brilliant NL displays and will probably burn up a few satellites too.
