Meteors tonight
Watch the Skies!
Tonight is the peak of the Orionid Meteors - If it is a clear night & you are up & about at @1:30am (should be good from @midnight - 5am) tomorrow morning, look towards Orion & hopefully, you should see plenty of meteors. BBC - Science & Nature - Space - Meteor Showers A chair, blanket & a flask/hip-flask are useful optional extras too. ![]() |

Get yourselves ready for the Leonids on Saturday night/Sunday morning. The predictions for this years shower are very promising.

It was indeed a clear night - I got out @2:30am with a couple of flasks of strong coffee & was seeing meteors from the off.
![]() The hail of them didn't happen tho but @ 5am, there was @20mins of big, bright meteors radiating out over the sea & towards the west - Classic Leonids, leaving great long trails arcing across the sky. Smaller meteors were visible on a minute-by minute basis all night. Saw two owls & some deer too. Eventually @6am, the cloud began to rise & I got an hour or so's sleep - only to wake-up to the first lying snow of this year & a lovely bright sunrise: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
