ok well I'm going to install XP Service Pack 2. Wish me luck. If you see a mushroom cloud, it's just me.

The only one niggly thing was the firewall blocking my wifes computer to get to a database on my own PC. That was a hassle but now everything is fine and dandy.

just one bit of advice DON'T USE THE FIREWALL THAT CAME WITH IT!! either buy one or don't use cause the windows one does nothing a firewall's meant to do and everything it isn't

I used the Windows firewall for a few hours before switching back to ZoneAlarm. Actually, it's sad we have to go to such lengths to protect our computers nowadays. The software can always be reinstalled, but the data is everything. I've got 12 years of my life on my PC so I'm careful about backups. I even store a lot of my stuff on remote servers. Talk about paranoid lol.

hello there,

it may sound paraniod, but somehow,these people can get through your firewall. they are becomming more smart these days and at an early age.

It's good that you store on remote servers, but there is a risk in storing data on any server or machine.

oh well, i'll have to go install it now. lol
