Why do you think Scotland had more discoverers and inventors
in the pre-20th century than there is today

you obviously have no clue what your talking about , scotland is the leading nation on cloning technology , biotechnology and it has the largest number of virology labs in glasgow than any other european city , scotland has and is awlys the fore runners in science exclusively microbiol and molecual scientific techniques ,
you ever seen that piece of enginering that connects cannels on a large tri wheel type thin well thats the only one of its kind of the world same goes for the rotating glasgow science centre and i am sure i could name countless more i advise you to only post topics which you have even a slight clue of what your talking about, it helps also to do some reaserch into these matters it will make your posts seem intelligent and curious instead os some mindless rambling you just put down from the back of your mind.

You obviously have no manners heathen, there is absolutely no reason for you to be this rude to another member. This is a legitemate question and deserves a reasonable answer from people.

I ADVISE YOU to consider your responses and not belittle another member. If you can't say something helpful or participate in a discussion with out meanness, maybe you shouldn't respond.

Sorry JacobiteJamie for slipping off topic but belittling really cranks me! I have an opinion on your topic...

I imagine there are just as many current inventors etc active in Scotland as there were in the past but theft being what it is I imagine we don't hear about a lot of things being researched etc... To protect the ownership of said discoveries. We do know about past researching and discoveries but I don't believe in their time it was common knowledge, again, protecting ownership. In 100 years there may be similar questions regarding a lot of new info and all the stuff being worked on today will be as common as the Thermos!

Kathy
I think you should be aware that 'JacobiteJamie' has posted troll-like whinges on many of the fora on here.... and his badly researched, falsely based posts have been challenged by a number of us on the Scotland.com site.... I believe I recognise his writing (using the term loosely) style as being broadly similar that used by earlier, different usernames. Frankly, I believe he has registered under a number of aliases over the past couple of years!
