Thank you, DevineHerring (what an intriguing screen name, indeed). Would we agree, if we put curiosity in front of research?
It's a very philosophical discussion and involves a need for precise definition of the term "resaerch". Is it the act of researching or is it the process around the cluster research?
When I did my research back in Uni times, I certainly was non-biased except for the hope to come to results. The initiation for the resaerch was non-biased, the process became biased.
Back to Global Warming: the research came up with a possible expanation for the Ice Ages and linked the melting of the ice on the poles to the path of the gulf stream. Biased?
At least the newest apocalytpic film is, wouldn't you agree?
ETA: thank you Artoo, very interesting point. Einstein would have gotten all the funds he needed AFTER is publications. LOL.
I daresay is no non-based funding in the US. In many states of Europe there was as the resaerch at the UNI's were not commercially funded.
