The book, Noah’s Flood, by geologists Walter Pitman and Bill Ryan inspired Dr. Robert Ballard to go searching for wrecks on the floor of the Black Sea. He has found evidence of flooded civilizations, artifacts and the wreck of an ancient vessel.

National Geographic has done a good video, The Quest For Noah's Flood, where they feature this expedition.

Don't let the title put you off, it is not biblical but more historical/geological speculation.

Haven't read the book but I've seen some TV progs on this. The idea is plausible - it's certainly on a grand enough scale to have triggered the deluge mythology. More at:

I read the book a while back. I found it quite compelling as the evidence is good and it all seems quite plausable. It is very attractive reasoning and research though like all such theories it is not without its detractors. I hope more research is done into this subject, I have a gut feeling that it is more correct than not...
