I don't want to inflamate more the discussions here, but a read a lot of things about Jesus, Bible and have some questions to make. It's possible to separate Jesus from the Church, the bible from Jesus ? Let me explain something. about 10 years ago, I have this very interesting conversation with a friend, she ask me my religion and I told her I was Catholic. Than she ask me again "Well, did you go to the church, you read the bible, you follow the dogmas of the church" and I said. "No, I believe in Jesus, that's all". Than I realize that maybe I wasn't Catholic, I believe in Jesus but I also believed in things that are considered not catholic beliefs like reencarnation. I realize I cannot separate Jesus from Church and after all, there's no such thing of "I have Jesus in my heart" and "damn the priest I'm not going to listen to that sermon". What you can tell me about this Theja. And keep casting you pearls that I will make a pretty necklace for my Goddess.

The Pentateuch is the name for the first five books of the bible.They are ascribed to Moses and Jews call them the Torah.

First I'd ask that you excuse my not addressing your entire post. I, as well, am pressed for time at the present. I can say something about this snippit though.

Genesis 7:11-12
"In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the foundations of the great deep were broken up*, and the windows of Heaven were opened."

*Sounds to me like an inundation of sea water, as well as the breaking forth of the water table. Most people don't read their Bibles close enough to catch this. They rely on twisted, second-hand stories for their Bible knowledge. The rain didn't fill the earth with water, the Earth broke forth first, i.e. sea water and water tables. The rains, as demonstrated in the Bible, came second.

So it would seem that you believe according to the Bible, aside from the fact that the flood was world wide.

If you read it more carefully, you'll see that the Bible is scientifc as well as geographic and historical. But, again, if everything was made known to us, where would that leave faith?

Thanks so much Andy! The funny thing is, Sunday evening at church, my pastor was discussing things in Genesis, and so I was flipping through my Bible to look up the verses, and my Bible, at the beginning of each book gives a little background, like who wrote it, approximate dates the book was written, background of what was going on in the lands at that time, etc. Anyways, right there it talked about the Pentateuch adn told me what it was. I really don't think I'd ever heard that term before!

So now I'll go back through here (when I have some time) and re-read the posts about that
