I could use a shrink....

Hi labhriunn,

Certainly u do have the gift to gab (smile). So you are a shrink. Are you a psychologist or psychiatrist? I live about 5 hours from you. I, like you, have too much education and do too much reading. I have written one book (nothing to brag about) and several papers and articles (again nothing to brag about). My job, well, let's just say that I have a similar job as yours and I do a lot of seminars. I love books, books, books...I just bought a $360 book today for $170. What a deal.

What I meant by laity was that the masses create language, culture and religion, not the few professionals on top (I would not press this theory too hard). Try as they may, lay people will always choose to believe what they will. This is not to say that intellects are not creative. Of course, I wouldn't know what I am talking about since I am just "white trash." LOL!

Don't bother to purchase the book by George Hunter, III. You can read mine. If you want some good Celtic reading pick up a few books by Jean Markale. My favorite of his is "The Druids: Celtic Priest of Nature." I am just finishing up his copy on "Merlin."

Your statement, and this is no knock, "That faith and spirituality comes from a "church". The people who run the church determine what the church stands for." really shows that you have not been around a church too much. Labhriunn, believe me, the priest, pastor, shepherd, elder, deacon, or whatever, does not run the church--laity does. If you don't believe me, sit down with a local pastor or priest and get them drunk and they will tell you the truth, (grin).

5 hours hey? So then, you know where Sterling is? If you are 5 hours north you'd be in Canada. If it's south then you could be in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, east, could be even New York, west, well there's Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Or, if it's 5 hours south by plane/jet well hell you could be just about anyplace couldn't you? Of course the first thing I thought of was by car. Since you never mentioned 5 hours by what means; geeze I Love the way the mind works. I am a psychologist, though I did go to med school, was an osteopath, GP,FP with minor surgery; neither my country or my new country would allow me to practice in the little farming villages of my choosing, not allowing me to barter and such like, I said BALLOCKS to that! You mentioned a similar vain of professionality. Care to share? I approach the shrink thing through Divinity. Infact, I am currently writing a "textbook" of my approach. Things like, well not calling myself a shrink but an Ally, patients/clients are not that but queriants, a session is not that but an Immram, you see the theme of that's happening here, the aspect of journey, the shamanistic questing, a familiar that the queriant can identify, and on and on. See I just cannot get away from the Spirit. I even have westerners purchase a certain translation of Morte D'Arthur and read the entire thing. Of course I direct their order of reading, but there is much preliminary work that the queriant must accomplish before the Immram begins in "ernest". You see I work with people to reattach them to their pedagogical symbology, i.e. their personal symbology, their ancestral, associative, etc., etc., etc...Ooops, I'm going on again, arn't I? I'll take a breath now....

labhriunn,

It sounds like you have some interesting work and thoughts on helping people. What is your thoughts on the gifted helping those who consider themselves normal--I am speaking of the rest of the world? For myself, I enjoy hanging upside down and inbetween (smile).

So how do I get to your place? Do I fly, drive, swim or walk? LOL!

Well, I guess I do have some ideas. And about the rest? Everyone needs some "shrinkage" throughout their Lives, or else they AIN'T Lived!!!!! I don't care if it's talking to your imaginary friend, to a tree, to a dog, to a horse (those just happen to be my three favorites), your school chum over a bottle of beer, everyone now and again needs some "shrinkage". If you don't think so, as I said, either you haven't yet Lived, or you're lieing; which means you need some shrinkage! And I've never felt comfortable with a "fee". I've always left it up to the person. When someone's asked how much I am an hour I always tell them it's up to them. I suppose I've always seen it as a donation. Needless to say I'm not a Fraiser Krane, with his penthouse and all that. I just like to sit and talk, and solve problems. That's all I do, or anyone does. Just lend and ear and most times things work themselves out...And to get to where I am, what a long and weird journey. I don't know if a plane, or a swim, or a walk alone to get you to where I am. ;-)
