Peresophone,
I think the end is coming-for international terrorism. Finally the world is united and alive to the threat which Islamic fundamentalist fanatics pose to the peace and security of every nation. If the terrorists hoped to further their political aims they were very much mistaken. The entire international community wants to ensure that acts of mass murder like that which was witnessed on Tuesday never happen again.I only hope that an example is made of those behind this act of terror which will convince others of the futility of resorting to terrorism.

I agree with ANDY-J. It is the end alright. The end of terrorist. The end of let's talk and work it out. The end of so much more.
My husband said he was affraid if we launch an attack that the terrorist will strike again.
I had to remind him "they" will attack us anyway. Just the fact that we breathe is enough reason to attack us. Sad. Very sad.

People who think that they can cause Americans to run, flee and cower are very mistaken. The U.S. is a large nation with many ethinc groups and religions were everyone lives in peace and freedom. These terrorists hate that fact, and the only thing they have done with these attacks is to make everyone in the U.S angry and with that anger, a very strong will to find out who was behind the attacks. They, the terrorists, can not hide forever...and when they are found....well they will probably wish they had never done it as pretty much the whole world is out against terrorism. I think very soon, terrorism will become a thing only heard of in text books.

I hate to break it to you Akilia, but the plain and simple reason's the terrorist attacks took place is becuase of America's foreign interference with the theft of Palestine. Also becuase of the fact that America likes to pick and choose who they are with and agianst depending how it suites America and no one else, (think about the fact that America used to be at war with the Northern alliance and in suport of the Taliban, now it's the other way around).
Maybe if the USA didnt butt its nose into affairs that dont concern them, this wouldnt happen to you???
I hate terrorists, but from what I can see the US Government is not much better (how about the Atomic bombings of Japan to jumpstart your memory).
If thats not enough how about that fact that the USA did not even help in world war 2 untill THEY were attacked.
If the reason the terrorists attacked the USA is becuase they hate democracy then why choose the USA? What about Sweden or even Australia?
There are much more peaceful and democratic nations in the world other than the USA, so please don't make up a load of ****.

I never cease to be amazed at the lack of historical knowledge, much less insight, not only in my own country, but abroad as well. A wee history lesson for you frog, since apparently, due to your own historical inaccuracies, you think the Al Quida terrorists killed 4000+ Americans for legitimate reasons, when really all those Americans had done wrong was to get up and go to work that morning.

“the terrorist attacks took place is becuase of America's foreign interference with the theft of Palestine”

First off, if you think back a couple of millennia, you’d see that it is the Jews, not the Arabs, who owned Palestine. They owned it centuries before Mohammed was even born. Be that as it may, initially the US was opposed to any Jewish state in Palestine due to the possibility it would be a great destabilizing force in the region. During the Cold War, Israel was one of the few, if not only, real US allies in the Middle East. That would be an important point, unless of course you view Communism as a more “perfect” form of government. Strong allies were very important in that region due to it’s increasing importance for the economic well being of not only America, but Western Europe and the Far East as well. Isn’t it interesting that any other nation on earth can do what it may in it’s own interests, and rightly so, but it borders on criminal if America does the same? Lastly, I don’t see that Sweden or Australia (those great democracies YOU mentioned) have done much at all in TRYING to bring peace between Israel and the Palestinians or in the Middle East as a whole. Name for me one instance if you can. America certainly has and is.

“(think about the fact that America used to be at war with the Northern alliance and in support of the Taliban, now it's the other way around)”

Firstly, America was never "at war" with anyone in Afghanistan, prior to a month and a half ago. When America supported the Afghans in THEIR war against Soviet aggression THERE WAS NO Taliban or Northern Alliance. They were one in the same; Afghans! Few supported the Soviets, the vast majority didn’t. The Taliban was created in refugee camps in Pakistan and began THEIR civil war long after the US helped the Afghans repel the Soviets. Guess we should have just butted out of their business. I’m sure the Afghans would have had no trouble learning to speak Russian and what a wonderful government the Soviets would have brought them. We’ve deprived them of so much! Lets not even get into the amount of aid America has brought to Afghanistan in value or tonnage, compared to those "more peaceful and democratic nations".

“(how about the Atomic bombings of Japan to jumpstart your memory). If thats not enough how about that fact that the USA did not even help in world war 2 untill THEY were attacked.”

Amazing! You pull people's butt out of the fire TWICE in one century and THIS is the kind of thanks you get a few generations later. Lets see, we’re not allowed to even THINK of our own, selfish interests, but as soon as someone else gets into trouble we’d better be there with guns blazing! America DID support the UK and other Allies virtually from the start of W.W.II and for most of W.W.I. In fact, American envoys tried to find a peaceful settlement shortly after Germany’s invasion of Poland in 1939. America started sending aircraft and munitions to Britain about the time of the Dunkirk debacle. Not only that, but America helped put a huge dent in the German wolf packs long before war was declared, allowing aid to reach Britain in greater and greater quantities. Hundreds of American merchant seamen and naval personnel lost their lives long before America declared war. If not for the support given to Great Britain, German operation Sea Lion would have taken place and there would not be a Great Britain as we know it today, or France, Sweden, Belgium, Holland........As for the A-bombs, I suppose the loss of over a million Japanese, American, British and Australian lives due to the invasion of the Japanese home islands would have been far more palatable than the loss of a couple 100 thousand. But of course the British firebombing ( along with the Americans ) of German cities was perfectly legitimate. After all Britain was at war....and America? Well?....

Now then, instead of “making up loads of ####” (your words, not mine), why don’t you get at least SOME of your facts straight, then come back and talk about the reasons for September 11. Fact is America was the first to have a truly free and democratic form of goverment when Sweden was still a monarchy and Australia was nothing but the King's penal colony.
