Cool

Hi all,
Found this topic very interesting.Myself being agnostic. Throughout this thread people keep referring to the "Old Ways" or religion,.is this the same as the Wiccan faith/beliefs?

Hi ERINGOBRAUGH,

The "Old Ways" (plural) would include Wiccan faith/beliefs and so much more. Good to talk with you...

Excuse me for giving my opinion, but I think we're no longer talkin' about the old ways but wether women ar just as good as men besides, the old way is a way of life, you cannot see it as simply a religon; it's a way of life!
One must never forget that.

Nonsense

As a total non believer!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sad that people think that one or other religion is correct(or better). I was raised a catholic and in the past 25 years have read as much as possible on the various religions of the world and come to the conclusion that all religions are based on the HOPE that man will be as good to man as man hopes he is to others.
Having said that my two youngest daughters are Wiccans and insist that this is the oldest form of this belief to be practiced as a religion.
As for anyone claiming to be a decendent of the Picts they should recheck their family tree and if it is correct contact the Scottish historical experts as they have no idea what happened to this race, when the Irish Scots took over "Scotland", due to their lack of written history.

Sorry,

I didn't know that anyone picked up this old thread. Good to hear from you both and welcome to Scotland.com. You will note that under this particular genre it gets quite "hot" at moments. Everyone has their own personal opinions on these matters of religion. For myself, I am of the old ways, a pict, a scot, a priest--I am a born again pagan. Merlin of old is my mentor.

So tell me, who are the two of you?

I am originally from Inverclyde but have now resided in Ireland for 2 years,a Scot moving to the land of the true Scots!
I just found your comments about the old ways funny as pagan/wicca is the fastest groing western religionat the moment, this seems to be because unlike "dogmatic" religions it is all about personal choice and private beliefs.

I have a friend who is a Wikken and after extensive research I find that "the old ways" and the wikken beliefs are in may respects alike. I myself do not belive them, being Christian and all, but the facts were very interesting, not all the lore and mysticism that surrounds them. The stories that surround Wikken are what scares people away and causes them to be persecuted but in the end when you do away with this image people put on them you see that they are just like any other religion.
