I don't mean to be insulting in anyway at all, but in Religious Education at school I was always told that this "God" was like wind, you can feel him, you can't see him, now.. I found this highly patronising, of course, believing in the dreaded (by all religions) "Big Bang" theory even when I was 15 years old. What plausible reason is there for being a god, heaven and hell, etc. The bible is a morally great book, teaching good lessons, but it isn't true (more like a Harry Potter book than non-fiction as it would like to be), and it didn't "convert" me to Christianity. All more implausable by all the fantasy and rising from the dead nonsense. One of the many reasons people believe(d) all this is because they were frightened by hell, they go to church every week because they think it makes them a better person, which really is, quite sad.

Oldagesnowboarder,
I take the view that the complexity and harmony which exist within the universe tend to suggest the influence of a divine creator.Assuming that the 'Big Bang' theory were valid and that the universe in it's entirety was at some point contained within a super dense particle, what caused this particle to explode?Did it explode of it's own volition-in which case we have an effect without a cause, which is contrary to the laws of Newtonian physics.I would argue that some external force would have been necessary to trigger the'Big Bang'and therefore I believe in the existence of God. |

Hello again all. Hope yer all well.
Andy J; the bi bang theory does in deed o beyond newonian physics, hencewe have uantum physics etc. If you areinterested in the subject there is a great bok bs D S fergusson on creation the big bang etc. Ittakes a lok at all the prevailing theological and scintific views and although I dont agree with davids conclusions the discussionis worth reading. |

I personally don't have a conflict in believing in God and the "Big Bang" theory.
I've recently come to realization that you create your heaven or hell. Here or in the after-life, you choose what your soul is going to experience. I've always kept the bible in a spiritual perspective (not a physical one). It's foundation is for your soul and it's journey. Key elements are given for one to acheive a growth towards God. Human beings, well intended, have given their twist on certain aspects of the bible (depending on the times it was inspired). Fear was the biggest misleading aspect, I beleive. There are ways our souls are going to journey towards God. We are not seperate from God or anyone else. We are One. |

I believe that our heaven/hell is a 6 ft hole in the ground, being eaten by worms, being part of the evolution of earth, we are born, we eventually die and that we have to make the most of our extremely short time on this planet.
