Tireguy.
There is no virtue in suffering as such.Suffering is bad and only a fool would choose to live in poverty if he could choose to live in comfort unless it were to fulfill some spiritual or religious purpose.Life however is often hard and by struggling to overcome life's hardships we grow and develop as human beings. If it weren't for the experiences which I have gone through in my life I wouldn't be here discussing religious matters. The experiences which I have undergone encouraged me to question previously held beliefs and to look for answers which conventional christianity did not seem to provide. What was the purpose of Christ's forty days of fasting in the wilderness?I believe that by exposing your body to such deprivation and hardship one develops a heightened sense of spiritual awareness. In Hinduism and Bhuddism many ascetics also fast for long periods and many undergo mystical experiences which they feel are visions from God designed to aid their spiritual growth.

Thanks for the insight. I have not experienced fasting or much of any deprivation as of yet.

he was a man a propet and a teacher and a god
he came here as a man
He prophised about events to happen
he tought the people about god
he was god of this earth
he was the son of the living god in heaven
God sent his only begotten son Jesus the Christ to die for our sins. Jesus and God is two seperate beings he prayed to Heavenly Father when he was in Gethsemanie.
