To answer a question about the anti christ one has to understand the perspective of those who wrote about him.
In the Roman world the Emperor Nero had gone the way of the Dodo, but there was doubt as th whether or not he was dead.

Nero, if you remember is one of the real nutcases of history-on a par with Caligula. Nero was feared by Christians and represented a kind of anti christ-add to this the fact that he may not be dead and would return more powerful than before.

If then you add to this the fact that the early Christians believed that the eschaton was close, that they would live to see the end of days one sees quite easily the fear and hope that the image of the anti christ was built around. There is a sense where the AC simply relates to those that are against GOD etc.
