Cool what is.......

Wicca is most facinating of just about all of the religeons that I have studied. If I were going to be a wiccan I would be a solitary most definately. I have heard that Gardinarian wicca is the best. It has influenced a lot of people. One of the best reasons to be a solitary is that you can observe different solstices and do your own rituals for your own edification. But when it comes to "cake and ales" I would much rather be with another. Dancing is another draw back to being a solitary. It is more fun to have a partner than with out. But then you can control your own energy and go for as long as you like when you like and how you like. It is a very much personalized thing. I love to read the old Druid "poems" sitting on a hill on a balmy evening with a slight breeze blowing. It is very relaxing to say the least. Elzpath

ps-- I get into the philosophies of all religeons. I don't judge them for each to eaches own!!EVER!!
pss--Gardinarian Wicca and this wizard/founder of a sect of Gardinarian/anthropologist Ph.D Raymond Buckland are about the best I have found for Wicca.

Exclamation

Elzpath...I agree about Raymond Buckland. His books are wonderful. Know someone that has had the pleasure of meeting him in person and said he was a lovely person!

Bollox!

Pecti Wicca is a load of bollox! Raymond Buckland made it up, just like Gerald Gardner made up Wicca. "Pecti Wicca" was never practised in Scotland.

Gerald Gardner, with the assistance of the able Doreen Valiente, made up Wicca in the 50's.

The Druids were wiped out. Any of their practices that might have survived would probably have survived in very watered down folk traditions/country superstitions. "Solitary Druid" would be a contradiction of terms.

Whatever gets you through the night is alright, but please... do some research.

Not quite true ...but a common view...Gardner did not invent Wicca he re-invented it...all religions have to start somewhere and the 50's where as good a time as any..Gardner took a bunch of related and unrelated material and formed it into a system that has worked for many hundreds of thousands of people world wide. The sources where wide and varied..from the Golden Dawn and Alestair Crowley to Folk law, Pickingill and a supposed group that prsctised inthe New Forest...Modern research tends to accept that this group did exist. I was apractising Wicca for an number of years (Gardenarian 3rd degree) with my own Coven..but chose to break away for the same reason most people abandon religion..Dogma..I now have a belief and not a religion that again encompasses a wide range of Northern European traditions.

Druids where not wiped out ...their traditions where continued by the Culdee Church up until the 12/13th century in remote areas..again these where re-invented during the 18th century from many sources. Anyway druid nowadays is more about a state of mind and beleif than clinging to a romantic view of of a long dead society.
