THIS IS THE ANSWER??

ADULTERY ?

Adultery is considered a sin in all religions. The Bible decrees the death sentence for both the adulterer and the adulteress (Lev. 20:10) . Islam also equally punishes both the adulterer and the adulteress (Quran 24:2). However, the Quranic definition of adultery is very different from the Biblical definition. Adultery, according to the Quran, is the involvement of a married man or a married woman in an extramarital affair. The Bible only considers the extramarital affair of a married woman as adultery (Leviticus 20:10, Deuteronomy 22:22, Proverbs 6:20-7:27).
"If a man is found sleeping with another man's wife, both the man who slept with her and the woman must die. You must purge the evil from Israel" (Deut. 22:22).

"If a man commits adultery with another man's wife both the adulterer and the adulteress must be put to death" (Lev. 20:10).

According to the Biblical definition, if a married man sleeps with an unmarried woman, this is not considered a crime at all. The married man who has extramarital affairs with unmarried women is not an adulterer and the unmarried women involved with him are not adulteresses. The crime of adultery is committed only when a man, whether married or single, sleeps with a married woman. In this case the man is considered adulterer, even if he is not married, and the woman is considered adulteress. In short, adultery is any illicit sexual intercourse involving a married woman. The extramarital affair of a married man is not per se a crime in the Bible. Why is the dual moral standard? According to Encyclopaedia Judaica, the wife was considered to be the husband's possession and adultery constituted a violation of the husband's exclusive right to her; the wife as the husband's possession had no such right to him. 15 That is, if a man had sexual intercourse with a married woman, he would be violating the property of another man and, thus, he should be punished.

To the present day in Israel, if a married man indulges in an extramarital affair with an unmarried woman, his children by that woman are considered legitimate. But, if a married woman has an affair with another man, whether married or not married, her children by that man are not only illegitimate but they are considered *******s and are forbidden to marry any other Jews except converts and other *******s. This ban is handed down to the children's descendants for 10 generations until the taint of adultery is presumably weakened. 16

The Quran, on the other hand, never considers any woman to be the possession of any man. The Quran eloquently describes the relationship between the spouses by saying:

" And among His signs is that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that you may dwell in tranquillity with them and He has put love and mercy between your hearts: verily in that are signs for those who reflect" (Quran 30:21).

This is the Quranic conception of marriage: love, mercy, and tranquillity, not possession and double standards.

Sexual Promiscuity Bondage NOT FREEDOM

Dear Stranger,
Look at the results of promiscuity---unwed mothers
and fatherless children, who statistically are more apt to live in poverty.
Often times these homes are more unstable, men in and out of the home. And history often repeats itself as the children go up---themselves becoming parents at a young age,and missing out on an education that could help provide a better life for their family.
Now, let's try it God's way. Two people marry and commit themselves to each other and the raising of their children according to Gods principles--these children have a much better chance of becoming stable, happy contributing members of society. Yes, there are always exceptions to the rule but as a whole, it has been my observation as a teacher of the disadvanteged that a lack of God in the family is even a bigger detriment than a lack of money---if they would try doing thing God's way,ie.,saving sex for someone they plan to marry and to commit with for life alot of pain and heartache would be elleviated. Sexual freedom is a lie. The cost comes in many forms--fathrless children, abortions, venereal disease, AIDS, and poverty.
Now back to your question about sleeping around and going to hell. Sin is sin. According to the bible, yes--fornicators and adulterers and liars, etc, will indeed go to hell. However, there is good news, Jesus Christ. If we confess and turn from our sin , he is there to forgive us and strengthen our resolution toward a new begining, a new way, not the worlds way.
God's best and blessings to you from a Mom with four children from the state of Michigan,U.S.A.

Take care,
Gishkae

Like most western countries the United States is a secular society.People's lives and values aren't greatly affected by religious considerations unlike in many Islamic countries.

Hi all-
Gishkae, nice to meet you. I'm from Michigan as well
I must say, I do think it's very sad that so many people are having sex outside of marriage and treating it so flippantly. It's definitely something that has become quite common. However, I differ on the idea of being put to death for sex outside of marriage. Yes, it does say that in Lev. 20:10, however it also adds a huge list of reasons to be put to death, one which includes having your parents reviled by you. You have to look at the huge context of the Bible as a whole to understand certain scriptures. Pulling things out of context isn't quite fair. So no, I don't think God is in Heaven believing that we should be executing everyone who commits adultry. I agree, it's sin. But as Gishkae pointed out, we have a way of forgiveness from that sin. But also, back to that scripture. The Old Testament is all about the Law. God's people were under the Law. There were lists of dos and don'ts and the people had to make sacrifices as atonement for their sins. In the New Testament, Jesus came to take away the sins of the people as the eternal sacrifice for them/us. And after He came, the people were no longer under the Law. That's not to say, we should ignore it. But things changed. You can see the differences between Judaism and Christianity to see how the Laws are viewed.

Misconceptions of the U.S.

Dear Stranger,

You said you were a muslim in the U.S. correct? Those people who were having sex outside of marriage that were suppose to be christians were not christians. Christian is title alot of people in the U.S. overuse. In the U.S. we suffer from Sunday Christianity. Meaning those people are christians on Sunday and do what they want through the week. They are not true christians and give the ones of us who are a bad name. Those people think they are deceiving the world but in actualality they are only deceiving them selves. In the New Testament Jesus says it is better to not to have known the word of God and die a sinner than to receive the word of God and not practice it. that is the problem with our country. The U.S. as a whole are hell-bound. God is overlooked. God is envolved in problems such as I need an A on an Enlish test but not envolved in running our country. If the U.S. doesn't accept Christ as their savior when it is all said and done God will have to appologize to Sodom and Gommarah.
