This refers to the recent bombing of Iraq by US and UK warplanes.
The question is WHY? Robin Cook:Iraqi missiles are a danger to the pilots. The pilots are not safe to do their job. Tony Benn: The US and UK do not have mandates of international law to bomb Iraq. UN: Silence Egypt, India, New Zealand,Turkey, France, Germany, China and Russia: all have condemned this attack. Israel: Iraq is no longer a threat. George Bush: This is a routine airstrike. The no fly zone ? 1. What is the no fly zone?.......to protect Shi'ite Muslims and Kurds. Then why is the US and UK planes not protecting the Kurds that are being bombed by Turkish planes? 2. Has it been approved by UN?......see above reference to Tony Benn. Iraq has weapons of mass destruction? Who supplied Iraq with nuclear weapons in the first instance? Why is Israel, Turkey, Pakistan and India, all are allowed to build up their nuclear arms? Isnt the US enhancing its nuclear defence system? Other considerations................... Is Bush Junior continuing his fight that his father fought in? Or Is Iraq a threat to Israel ? |

Bush, Bombing Saddam, and other
The recent bombing of Irag was indeed a routine and long overdue strike against recently constructed installations by Saddam to advance his ongoing war agenda. It is not intended to be the beginning of any long-term conflict, but is merely a message to Saddam that this Administration will not be tolerant of his tactics.
George W Bush is merely enforcing points of understanding established by the cease fire at the end of the 1991 Gulf War. His overall style of leadership is not only different from that of his father, but is thankfully a departure from the man he succeeded .... Bill Clinton. As for countries such as Germany condemning our attack, they, like other, particularly eastern european countries tend to condemn anything America does until they need our help, and if we do not respond, then we are condemned for not helping. Germans and other Europeans always criticize Americans, calling them many names. This has always been hard to understand. We never seek to say anything but good about our European friends. But sometimes, offense is taken because statements are cruel. In the case of Germany, many in the West think that their criticizm of America stems from an ongoing insecurity over Germany's defeat in World War II. It seems as though they have never gotten over this and are always trying to "beat" Americans in one way or another....Olympics, automobiles,...whatever. We in America, for example, laud the Mercedes Benz as one of the finest automobiles in the world, while I myself have actually heard German people speak of Mercedes (and Japanese or any other foreign cars) as "...better than anything those stupid Americans can build." It would have been nice if we would have had more involvement militarily from our German friends during the 1991 Gulf War,....as they did sign on as a member of the alliance. Either way, the United States will continue to lead the other fine nations of the world against tyrants such as Saddam Hussain if it is necessary. |
