What makes you think that bisexuality is a "choice", but homosexuality is not?

Begbie, I'm not really sure how to answer that one. I've never been in that situation, it's just an opinion. When I think of someone who's bisexual, that person obviously has more than one partner, so they are sleeping around. Sometimes people don't care who it is, as long as they are getting some. To me, that's a choice. (I know that wasn't worded very well, but that's my thought.)

What is the difference between homosexuality and choosing the sex of your child?

What situation is it that you haven't been in Dawn?

Just as heterosexual, gay, and lesbian people can be monogamous, celibate, serial monogamists, or polyamorous, so to can bisexuals be.

A bisexual person may not be equally attracted to both sexes, and the degree of attraction may vary over time. Just as it is for most lesbian, gay, and heterosexual people, being bisexual is primarily a matter of attraction/orientation... a matter of the heart.

From the Bisexual Resource Center website:
http://www.biresource.org/bisexuality.html

"Bisexuals, like all people, have a wide variety of relationship styles. Contrary to common myth, a bisexual person does not need to be sexually involved with both a man and a woman simultaneously. In fact, some people who identify as bisexual never engage in sexual activity with one or the other (or either) gender. As is the case for heterosexuals and gay men and lesbians, attraction does not involve acting on every desire. Like heterosexuals and gay people, many bisexuals choose to be sexually active with one partner only, and have long-term, monogamous relationships. Other bisexuals may have open marriages that allow for relationships with same-sex partners, three-way relationships, or a number of partners of the same or other gender (singly or simultaneously)."

There are also heterosexual, gay and lesbian people in open marriages. It sounds like you may not know many, or any bisexual people Dawn.

I'm not arguing with you Begbie, I guess I tended to think along the lines of the "common myth", though I wasn't necessarily thinking it always had to be simultaneous. And you're right, to my knowledge, I don't know any bisexuals. I've not known many gay people either. I live in a very small town and as far as I know, there aren't any here, if there are, they are keeping it secret. I certainly have nothing against homosexuals or bisexuals, just don't have a lot of personal experience with them. As far as "what situation"?, I've never been in a bisexual relationship.

As to Wake Up's question, those 2 things aren't even in the same category.

I'm not really pro or anti any of these things, except for abortion, but I'm not one of those people who goes to demonstrations or anything like that either. It's definitely not something that I would do and I would lose a lot of respect for anyone that did. If I knew of someone having that dilemna, I would try to talk them out of the abortion.

Okay...
My hotlist:
1) Choosing the sex of your children
2) Abortion
3) Tobacco ads
4) Breast implants
5) Gay/Lez/Bi

Why this way ?
1) There are some things with which we should not meddle whatsoever. Thatīs one of them, from this itīs just a small step to customize colour of hair and eyes, intellect etc. ...
Weīd be living in a world of Barbies and Kens...
2) Just made it to the second rank, because there ARE exceptions. I think it is totally immoral all the time but for the following:
The motherīs life is threatened by bearing the child.
The child canīt be born alive.
And lastly if the woman is pregnant of rape; if she begins hating that child and herself sheīll perhaps kill herself and the child... see the first reason...
3) I donīt know how itīs like in america, but here I see 10 year olds smoking and I think thatīs because the ads promise adventure, coolness and success...
4) Breast implants at 4 because they threaten the life of the woman getting them; and some women are brought to do the operation because of the social background...
5) Gay/Lez/Bi Whereīs the problem ?
They arenīt hurting anybody, are they ? They just live their way of life and I think it for example more amorally to force women to wear veils, as it is practiced in some countries...

Another thing:
WAKE UP CALL and Nonson... Please do me a favor: Stop this attacking of innocents NOW !
How can you dare to speak of morality when you are not able to follow even the most simple (moral) guidelines about being polite ?
I personally think *******************
Look ? I didnīt write it, because I wouldnīt have been better than you if I did.
If we could discuss this like grown-ups, this topic would be interesting, but alas !
Ciao,
Dirk

My simple view is - I don't consider any of them immoral. They do not offend any opinions or beliefs I may have.

However whether they should be allowed or not is up to the society that they are part of.
