Examples
I'm going to use the USA for my examples here:
Democracy - anyone who wants to vote and is (a) an adult and (b) a citizen and (c) not a felon can vote for their governmental representatives. I know of no case besides those of blacks in the South after the Civil War to the contrary. Equality - All US citizens have equality in the eyes of the law. No double standards. If you are innocent, you will go free. Some guilty people go free as well, but that is the price paid for ensuring the freedom of innocent people. Freedom - The word "freedom" has been thrown around so much that it's meaningless. You'll have to be more specific. Independence - The US is independent from England. Opportunity - If you are willing to work and to learn, you have the opportunity to both support yourself in America and to better yourself. I know a Mexican immigrant who have a much higher quality of life in the US than he did in Mexico. Listening - What do you mean? Choice - Anyone anywhere has choice to some extent. You'll have to be more specific. Responsibility - Where there is choice, there is responsibility. Be more specific. Representative - See "Democracy" Rights - As a general rule (drugs aside) you can do whatever you want in the US unless your action hurts another person. Protection - You get free legal counsel if charged with a crime. And you can get Social Security when you're old. |
