Hi Wake up call,
I think when you have questions regarding any religion, or any idea, for that matter, the best thing to do is go to the source of that idea, or in that case, religion. Christianity is indeed based on the life of Christ. I'll try to answer some questions for you though. First, Christians worship both God and Jesus. The confusing thing here is that the Bible says that they are one being, in three parts-- God the Father, Jesus the son, and the Holy Ghost. How in the world can you explain that? Tha'ts one of those hard questions that I"ll have to wait and ask Him in person someday. In my own mind, I tend to think of it as water existing in solid, liquid, and gas form. Who knows if I'm right though. The Bible tells us that we, as humans, mess up. God is perfect, and we're not, so just by being ourselves, even if we're not completely horrible people, have fallen short of God. Does that make sense? In the Old Testament of the Bible, the people would give sacrifices to atone their sins. The sacrifice was always spotless, perfect. When God sent Jesus to earth to live, He (Jesus) became that perfect sacrifice for us. God said that no longer would the people have to sacrifice at an alter to be forgiven of their sins, for God sent the ultimate sacrifice. When Jesus was killed on the cross, He became the sacrifice for us. And from there, the Bible tells us that if we believe that Jesus is indeed the Christ, the atonement for our sins, that He is God's son, all we need to do is believe that and realize that we are indeed sinners but Christ can take away our sins. That doesn't mean we won't sin, cuz for goodness sake, I sure do. But we are forgiven. And basically, God just wants to bring us into a relationship with Him. That doesn't mean that our lives will be perfect, but the joy I feel with Him in unbelievable. And I've always been happy. But I had never experienced JOY until I met Him. The Bible says that "all who believe in me shall be saved." So this being said, all of those who believe that Jesus is God will enter heaven when they die. And as far as how do you get to heaven? I'm not sure. I've never been there But the Bible does say "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord" which leads me to believe it's an immediate thing upon death. I hope this answers a few of your questions. And for those who do not believe with me, I'm not trying to force my views on you. But if you find something you love, don't ya just want to tell people about it? If you have other questions, I'll try my darndest to answer them. I'm no expert, of course, but I've read the Bible and will keep reading it, and that's where I get my answers from. Have a great day!!! |

Can reading scriptures really provide a person with a knowledge of God?I do not have the slightest interest in any religion but I do believe in God.A true knowledge of the nature of God can,I believe, only be achieved by someone who possesses a degree of spiritual insight. The one thing guaranteed to prevent a person from attaining spiritual insight is an excessive adherence to religious dogma.
