would the world not be a better place without religion it seems to be the cause of most of the wars today
would this not be a better world if we were all as one

"IF we we'ere all just as one"...hmm....should we skip to the Saddam-kind-of-a person, or the saintlike version of things.?It is an interesting question, and i have myself asked a it many times.Yes, religion seems to be the root to a lot of evil in this world, but if it wasn't religion, i suppose it would be something else, we just HAVE to destroy and argue, it seems to be in our nature, sadly.I do not believe in God, but what i do believe is that we use him, or another godīs name to justify killing, condemning and be narrow-minded, really it's ourselves, we're just not blunt enough to realize , or admit that.
I apllaud that people differ from each other, the world would be a boring place to be if not, and i guess we would have nothing to talk about on this board would we.?
Regards Maria.

Men will wrangle for religion, write for it, fight for it, die for it, anything but live for it. -Charles Cotton

Most of the time the Religion people claim to be fighting for is totally against war, therefore its man who is to blame not the religion itself.

In the West of Scotland we have similar problems to those of N Ire. People call themselfs Catholics and Protestants and fight each other- surely though this isnt the fault of Christianity as they're not even Christian and Christianity is totally opposed to their behaviour...

Question

My whole point Colin was that Religion itself is not to blame, but we are. Religion isnt the CAUSE of the problems in N Ireland or Glasgow its the EXCUSE.

I can only really speak for Christianity but it does teach us to help the world (and I do believe that Christians are helping the world)

But anyway my opinion is religion does not cause trouble- we cause trouble. Without religion it would be sport or politics or boundaries or history or jealousy or xenophobia we would find something else to blame
