Question

Well I thought Religion would be the last place I started a topic in but I wasn't sure where else to post it.

Anyone have any experiences with premonitions that they would like to share?

Is intuition (as in a mothers intuition)the same thing?

I think we're the only two posting Janet and I'm about to get off.

For me, a premonition or a vision is seeing an actual event or meeting. In my mind, I could see my ex-husband walking up my parents driveway a year before he asked me. We didn't even like each other.
I'm not sure if the "deja vu" thingy is part of that, but I've experienced that all my life.

Intuition for me is that inner voice that warns you about a situation. Like using your instincts. When you have a sense of danger when you're around someone you don't know. Most of the time though, people shrug that instinct off, they shouldn't. Animals in the wild live by that instinct, humans are no different.

For me, the key is accepting those warning bells, no matter how subtle.

A premonition to me is more a forewarning of what is going to happen. I suppose it can be based on fact or myth but most likely it would be something simple like being called into the bosses office for some reason or another or something catastrophic like not sailing on the Titanic. How you would react might be different as you would have the option of facing the music or avoiding the situation.

Probably the only premonition I can recall having was when my father died. Somehow I knew something was wrong and attempted to get in touch with him. Three days later I found out he had passed away.

Intuition is something totally different. Its more a way of knowing the effect from a cause without having to rationalize the reaction. Sort of like standing on a high cliff looking down. You know you will get hurt if you fall, so your extra careful not too. There is nothing warning you here that you will hurt yourself you just know you will.

I guess a good example of mother's intuition would be like "put down that stick or you'll poke someone's eye out". Mother is giving you a warning based on a premonition of an event happening that there is no precedent for the stick bearers to rationalize it in their minds.

I have to disagree with Becca here because I feel instinct has nothing to do with these events. Instinct is more a unthinking reaction to a situation. It is probably based on knowledge of a prior event and the reaction has no inherent rationalization to it.

To me, a premonition is where you see something that hasn't happened yet. The thought or idea may flash through your mind for less than a second, but for some reason, your brain captures it. You hold on to it until it's neccesary to remember what's going to happen. Does that make any sense?
Intuition is more like reasoning in advance. I think so, at least. You take what you already know, and sort of get a feeling of where things are going to lead. I believe that if you are strongly bound to someone, like Goose and her father, (I'm sorry, I don't know your name.) your heart tells you, instead of your mind.
Instinct is your brain helping you survive. It isn't really thought, it's more like a built in surivival guide. I probably sound like an idiot. It's sort of hard to write what I think.
Anyways...There are my two cents bringing up the tail end once again. =)

Last summer my daughter took a trip to Mexico for a wedding with some of her friends from college. Friends, that I had never met and worried about her safety.

On the evening of the day they left Mexico, I had a "something's wrong" feeling involving Stacy. I was taught from childhood by my grandparents to "picture" the person in my mind, then imagine a bright white bubble (protection) surrounding that person. I did this for the entire car.

When she got back from her trip, she told me that one of the drivers had gone asleep at the wheel and veered into the median, but awoke in time to avoid an accident. This occurred at approximately the same time as my "something's wrong" feeling happened.

This is what I call mother's intuition.
