Cool

Nonson, if this is a study, shouldn't we get paid?

Furthermore, the results of your study will be flawed. There are no clans in here. Some may belong to a clan, but no actual groups.

However, if you want to observe the BS flying on these boards, you really should be at "C*m*on Inn" and not the "Religion" category.

Talking

It's an interesting study, but can I ask you, did you come to Scotland? Are you studying people in rural AND urban areas, old AND young? I know the mentality you are talking about but I don't see this in every Scottish person but perhaps more so in an older generation from the one that I know. Are you studying Scottish people in Scotland, or Americans with Scottish ancestry. I don't think you'll find out an awful lot about Scottish people on this website to be honest. Most of the angry young things on this site appear to suffer from heat exposure or absence of their regular therapy session (and those two are not very Scottish predicaments).

Cool

I agree with some of your points nonson but but to base any study on Scots on a room-full of Americans is unlikely to produce accurate results. All the same your posts make for interesting reading...

Question

could I also say that I think the mentality you talk about comes from us being a small country with one (relatively) big neighbour rather than anything to do with clans. The only influence the clans seem to have on modern day Scotland is that they bring in money from tourists...
